Forensic Psychologist Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced, driven, and detail-oriented forensic psychologist to join our growing team. In this position, you will provide psychological assessments, screenings, and treatments for people who are involved in illegal and unlawful incidents. You will play a key part in our team by helping to identify the root cause of criminal behavior and aid us to better merge the fields of law and psychology.

Forensic Psychologist Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meet with inmates, people involved in court cases, and others to help identify motives, mindsets, and other necessary information during the time of an infraction
  • Address and coordinate the mental health care requirements of these people, including providing assessments, tools, and treatments
  • Determine whether or not specific people are competent enough to withstand a trial
  • Assess the potential risk of reoffending
  • Interview and study witnesses to assess their legitimacy and credibility
  • Analyze provided information and evidence and search for consistency and/or discrepancies
  • Work with police officers, attorneys, and other relevant professionals to advise them on psychological matters
  • Provide testimony in the courtroom when required
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on the field of forensic psychology and share news of advancements with the necessary colleagues

Forensic Psychologist Requirements and Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree in psychology
  • 3+ years of experience in a role working directly with patients
  • Satisfaction of the licensing and certification requirements in our state
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Analytical mind with keen attention to detail and strong observational skills
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Willingness to solve complex problems, even with little information
  • Desire to advance and improve the field of forensic psychology
