Environmental Specialist Job Summary
We are looking for an Environmental Specialist to support our environmental health and sustainability efforts, including the proper disposal of hazardous materials. In this role, you will conduct on-site facility inspections to ensure businesses are adhering to local, regional, state, and federal regulations. These regulations include those outlined in the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and the Toxic Substances Control Act, among others. You may also take samples and perform analysis as part of the permit review process, assessing potential impacts and documenting your findings. This job is essential to maintain not only environmental health, but also the health of any potential employees or nearby residents.
Environmental Specialist Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections
- Collect and test samples of soil and nearby water sources
- Assess potential impact certain processes may have on the environment
- Review permit applications
- Prepare reports and legal documents
- Investigate employee complaints regarding exposure to hazardous material
- Ensure clients are complying with all local, regional, state, and federal environmental regulations
Environmental Specialist Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, chemistry, or a related field (required)
- Master's degree a plus
- Laboratory experience a plus
- Knowledgeable about current environmental regulations and potential regulatory changes
- Driver's license and reliable transportation
- Attention to detail
- Analytical skills
