Emergency Medicine Physician Job Summary

Emergency Medicine Physician Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide medical care for patients with a variety of medical problems, including acute illness and injury
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as laboratory tests, radiologic studies, and electrocardiograms
- Stabilize patients with life-threatening conditions and make appropriate referrals for specialty care
- Develop and implement treatment plans for patients with acute and chronic medical conditions
- Educate patients and families about medical conditions and treatment plans
- Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and document all patient care activities
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical developments and best practices in emergency medicine
Emergency Medicine Physician Requirements and Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school
- Board certification in Emergency Medicine or completion of residency in Emergency Medicine or other relevant specialty
- Valid medical license in the state in which the physician will practice
- Previous experience as an emergency medicine physician preferred
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Able to make sound clinical decisions in a timely manner
- Able to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals
