Biomedical Equipment Technician Job Summary

Our company is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician who can repair biomedical equipment and medical devices for a hospital, lab, clinic, or other health care facility. You must be able to calibrate equipment accurately and perform routine maintenance and repairs when necessary; keeping equipment in excellent condition is vital for patient care and safety. Our ideal candidate can work with the utmost attention to detail, has completed training or college courses in biomedical equipment engineering and technology, and possesses knowledge of industry safety standards and applicable regulations. Military experience is a plus.

Biomedical Equipment Technician Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, calibrate, and repair all new, used, reconditioned, and damaged medical devices and equipment according to manufacturer or vendor documentation
  • Run diagnostic tests on equipment and identify any issues
  • Document all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance you perform
  • Keep track of the service parts inventory and seek approval for purchasing new materials or equipment
  • Collaborate with other members of the health care staff, escalating issues to upper management and supervisors as needed
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, industry standards, and OSHA requirements

Biomedical Equipment Technician Requirements and Qualifications

  • Associate degree in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics, medical equipment technology, or a similar field
  • One year of relevant experience (preferred)
  • Biomedical Industry Technical Certification is a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of and experience using electronic test equipment and devices
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Manual dexterity for using various tools
  • Physical stamina for standing, bending down, and walking throughout shifts, as well as lifting equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
