Banquet Chef Job Summary

Our hotel is seeking a Banquet Chef to join our hospitality team. We host a high volume of events, so we prefer applicants who have professional experience as well as an educational background in culinary arts. Your primary tasks in this role are to oversee kitchen staff, training them to prepare menu items while upholding portioning and plating standards. You will also assist with menu development for each event, ensuring our kitchen is sufficiently staffed and stocked. You must enforce a high standard of quality at all times during food preparation as well as equipment sanitization.

Banquet Chef Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with menu development
  • Train and oversee kitchen staff on how to prepare menu items
  • Uphold plating and portioning standards
  • Plan for event staffing needs
  • Order ingredients and maintain kitchen inventory
  • Enforce proper SSOP (sanitation standard operating procedures)

Banquet Chef Requirements and Qualifications

  • Degree in culinary arts strongly preferred
  • Sous chef experience (1-2 years)
  • Catering experience a plus
  • Food handler card or certificate
  • Communication skills (English and Spanish a plus)
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods
