Career: Labor And Delivery Nurse

Labor and delivery nurses most often work in the labor and delivery department of a hospital. Labor and delivery nurses are nurses with specialized training and education regarding labor and childbirth. After the baby is born, labor and delivery nurses may care for the mother during the first few days of her postpartum period and care for the newborn infant as well. They help the new mother learn about feeding, diapering and swaddling their baby. They also conduct vital sign assessments of the infant and provide any treatment the mother and baby may need post delivery.
