Where do 911 operators work?

You can find 911 operator positions in a number of locations depending on the size of the city or municipality in which you work. You work in large call centers in larger cities, and you are responsible for handling many calls on a daily basis. Other 911 Operators may work in smaller settings in rural towns or smaller municipalities. In this scenario, your call station may be inside the police station, assuming the volume is low enough for a small team of dispatchers to handle. In either case, you have a phone system and computer workstation so you can document the necessary information while on the call. You also use the computer to look up important safety information or contact safety personnel.
