What does a maintenance worker do?

A maintenance worker follows a schedule to ensure that the buildings under their supervision are attended to. This usually includes the upkeep of electrical and plumbing systems, masonry, and carpentry. Maintenance workers also need to be able to recognize repairs and liabilities outside their line of work. In these cases, it is their job to report it to the building administration so the appropriate expert can be hired. It is also the responsibility of maintenance workers to identify and obtain the supplies and equipment necessary for all tasks. Maintenance workers assemble equipment and keep detailed records of all work completed, inspections done, and repairs made.
