Radiologists are physicians utilize imaging techniques to diagnose and treat patients. These techniques include X-rays, computed tomography (CT), positron emission tomography (PET), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nuclear medicine, fusion imaging, and ultrasound. Radiologists treat a wide variety of injuries and illness, from broken bones to heart disease to cancer. Many of the imaging techniques use radiation; that is why radiologists have been specially trained to use these machines safely.
