What is a minister?

A minister is a leader of a church. As a member of the clergy, their job duties range from leading worship services to conducting funerals and marriages to assisting members of their congregation with their spiritual well-being. This career requires at least a bachelor’s degree, although many churches now require a master’s degree or even a doctoral degree. Additional qualifications include a religious vocation, a strong faith, and excellent communication skills. Many ministers attend specialized divinity schools that offer courses tailored to their religious denomination.
