How to become a team lead?

Career: Team Lead

To become a Team Lead, prior experience in retail and customer service is essential. Most employers prefer candidates with, at minimum, two years of professional experience combined with a high school diploma or GED; having some higher education such as an associates degree will advance your job prospects. Previous supervisory or coaching experience is a plus. Team Leads are naturally positive people who can comfortably facilitate conflict management. Familiarity with fundamental retail software and Microsoft applications is expected. Team Leads are punctual, organized, present themselves professionally, know their products inside and out, and serve as role models for their team members. Finally, they should be able to create and deliver progress reports for leadership.
