How to become a merchant?

Career: Merchant

Your educational requirements will vary depending on the size and ownership of the retailer, the position you seek, and other factors. You might only be looking for a part-time job while in school, in which case your educational background probably won’t be a factor. But to make a career as a Merchant, and to pursue positions of management or even eventual ownership, you should have at least a bachelor’s degree. Your major might be in business, sales and merchandising, marketing, or other relevant fields. You must be customer service-oriented and you might need a working knowledge of the merchandise you’ll handle. Generally, you will need years of experience if you want a management or ownership role.
