Location: This is a hybrid role, with an onsite presence of 3 days per week at our Manhattan, NY or Bethesda, MD.
Reports To: Senior Director, Marketing Strategy and Intelligence
Role Overview
GEICO is building a modern marketing organization designed for speed, intelligence, and growth. We are seeking a Manager, Marketing Strategy to serve as a T-shaped strategist who will work with the CMO to turn complex inputs into clear strategy and compelling stories that drive decisions.
This role sits at the center of marketing transformation, connecting customer insight, performance data, and business priorities into sharp strategies and executive-ready stories. The right candidate is both an analytical problem-solver and a high-impact storyteller who is comfortable navigating ambiguity, elevating thinking, and supporting senior leaders, including the CMO.
Key Responsibilities:
Audience & Insight Strategy
  • Translate customer data, research, and segmentation into clear audience strategies that inform how GEICO shows up in the market.
  • Identify emerging consumer behaviors and competitive shifts, turning signals into opportunities for growth.
  • Ensure audience insights are consistently embedded into campaign strategy, messaging, and channel decisions.

Marketing Strategy Development
  • Lead high-impact strategy workstreams tied to enterprise growth priorities.
  • Frame ambiguous business problems, develop hypotheses, and structure analysis to drive clarity and action.
  • Build data-backed recommendations that influence marketing investment, prioritization, and go-to-market strategy.
  • Develop business cases for new initiatives, pilots, and growth opportunities.

Narrative & Storytelling (Core to the Role)
  • Write clear, compelling strategy narratives for senior leadership, including the CMO, CEO, and executive team.
  • Translate complex analyses into simple, decisive storylines that drive alignment and action.
  • Support in shaping key marketing stories-quarterly business reviews, transformation updates, and major strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure consistency and clarity in how marketing strategy is communicated across the organization.
  • Leverage strong design sensibility and AI-assisted tools to create executive-ready storytelling materials.

Planning & Performance
  • Support annual and quarterly planning cycles with insight-driven recommendations and prioritization frameworks.
  • Define success metrics for strategic initiatives and track performance to inform ongoing decisions.
  • Synthesize results into actionable insights and executive-ready materials.
  • Partner closely with Brand, Media, Creative, Product, Analytics, and Finance.

Agentic Strategy & AI-Driven Approaches
  • Help shift GEICO from static planning to agentic strategy where marketing decisions are continuously informed and optimized by data, models, and real-time signals.
  • Translate complex AI outputs into clear strategic direction, ensuring leadership understands not just what is happening, but what to do next.
  • Design strategies that are adaptive by default-built to learn, iterate, and improve in-market rather than rely on fixed plans.
  • Identify where automation and AI can meaningfully accelerate growth, decision-making, and speed-to-market.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing strategy, growth strategy, customer insights, analytics, or related roles.
  • Hands-on experience with customer segmentation, data analysis, or strategic problem-solving.
  • Strong ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional initiatives in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with comfort presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with research tools, analytics platforms, or experimentation methodologies (formal expertise not required).
  • Experience using AI-assisted design tools (e.g., for concepting and rapid iteration) is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree a plus but not required.

Leadership & Working Style
  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity and limited direction while maintaining structure and rigor.
  • Curious and analytical, with a strong interest in customer behavior, market dynamics, and growth levers.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, with a bias toward learning and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, attention to detail, and a strong sense of ownership.

Hybrid: 3 days a week in office
