Purpose of Position

Provide process engineering support to drive development, optimize processes, reduce costs, improve quality, and enhance production efficiency, with a focus on achieving fundamental understanding.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Drive projects to achieve manufacturing performance goals for both new and existing processes.
  • Identify process limitations based on current equipment and capabilities and recommend solutions to overcome them.
  • Lead initiatives to gain a deeper understanding of key processes, enabling continuous improvement, yield optimization, and cost reduction.
  • Provide strategic guidance to management on prioritizing projects for maximum impact.
  • Apply strong problem-solving skills to identify root causes, develop solutions, and implement improvements to address process challenges and enhance overall performance.
  • Manage and support critical engineering and development projects aligned with the plant’s long-term objectives.
  • Collaborate with division and company resources in technology and engineering to enhance project success.
  • Partner with teams on new product and process launches, raw material changes, and equipment design modifications.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in ceramic, materials, chemical engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of engineering problem solving tools, such as: DMAIC, error proofing, scientific method, KT.
  • Proven experience in process improvement and successful development initiatives.
  • Strong technical expertise and hands-on experience in relevant areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects effectively.
  • Skilled in reviewing, analyzing, interpreting, and drawing actionable conclusions from data.
  • Results-driven with a high level of commitment to achieving goals.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in delivering clear and impactful presentations.
  • US Citizenship required

Desired Education and Experience:

  • Project management skills
  • Understanding of hypothesis testing, experiment planning and statistical analysis
  • Structured development and problem-solving skills (e.g. Innovation, KT, DMAIC). 
  • DMAIC Six Sigma methodology
  • Ability to work with production and maintenance workers in a unionized setting.
  • Able to communicate priorities and influence technical direction to others.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certified

The range for this position is $84,932.00 - $116,782.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
