Confidential – Plant Controller (Manufacturing)
About the Opportunity
A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a highly experienced Plant Controller to provide financial leadership across two production facilities in California. This position is a key strategic partner to plant leadership and will drive financial insight, operational performance, and profitability improvement.
This role oversees all site-level financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, costing, inventory controls, and month-end close, while strengthening processes and ensuring GAAP compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic partner to plant leadership, providing actionable financial analysis and recommendations
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting across multiple manufacturing sites
- Own product costing, standard cost systems, and manufacturing variance analysis
- Manage month-end close, including reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting
- Partner closely with operations on cost control, productivity, and capital investment initiatives
- Maintain strong inventory controls, including cycle counts and physical inventory processes
- Develop and analyze financial models, KPIs, and performance dashboards
- Support tax filings and external audit coordination
- Identify and implement process improvements and internal control enhancements
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to the plant finance team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience (manufacturing strongly preferred)
- Prior Plant Controller, Controller, or similar leadership experience required
- Strong background in cost accounting, inventory, and manufacturing variance analysis
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
- Excellent analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Preferred
- MBA or Master’s degree in Accounting/Finance
- Experience in multi-site manufacturing environments
Compensation
$140,000 – $165,000 annually
