Job description

Material Handler - Shipping

Primarily responsible for the support of the DC by efficiently sorting, scanning, staging and wrapping merchandise. The Department Material Handler also checks merchandise and ensures the product is loaded and checked in the proper delivery sequence by customer stop code.

Shift: Monday - Friday: 1 PM - 9 PM

Pay: $19.00 and up

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Must understand how to read truck loading forecast summary.
  • Must be able to set up a truck run by truck load forecast summary.
  • Must be able to identify and sort by customer stop code.
  • Must be able to operate a handheld scanner.
  • Understand how to stack pallets appropriately to avoid customer service issues.
  • Must understand how to load and secure.
  • Capable of obtaining power equipment certifications; electric power jack, walker/rider, and forklift.
  • Must be able to meet quality standards.
  • Ability to take direction from Supervisor.
  • Communicate any truck run changes with transportation.
  • Excellent attendance and reliable predictability a must.
  • Adheres to DC housekeeping guidelines
  • Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing to comply with all safety policies and practices.
  • Excellent attendance record
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime when needed
  • Good comprehension and organizational skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with other departments and all levels of management
  • Ability to maintain records accurately and demonstrate problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and to meet deadlines
  • Must be a team player with a can do attitude
  • Power Equipment certification a plus
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
