Truck Driver (CDL A)

POSITION SUMMARY

A truck driver is responsible for operating commercial vehicles exceeding 26,000 lbs. Operates single axle, 10 wheel, and tri-axle dump trucks, and moves equipment with truck tractor and low boy trailer or dump truck and tag along trailer. Ensures all materials are secured and obeys all state and federal regulations.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Completes accurate pre, and post trip inspections

• Maintains truck log according to state and federal regulations

• Operates equipment to load, or unload material

• Keeps accurate driver logs

• Hauls materials (stone, asphalt, dirt)

• Moves equipment

• Ensures all materials and equipment are secured properly

• Complies with all federal and state laws

• Keeps current medical certificate

• Drives responsibly

• Obtains permits and manifests

• Cleans truck exterior (bed, cab)

• Cleans truck interior (cab)

• Is aware of surroundings at all times

• Drivers will assist with site preparation as needed

EDUCATION/TRAINING

Requires high school level education (or equivalent); must have ability to use basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplications, division), must obtain a valid Class A or B Commercial Drivers License, Endorsements a plus.

EXPERIENCE

Two to five years commercial driving experience; with one plus years as dump truck or low boy driver experience.

  Salary range $18-$23 commensurate with experience and skill-set. Hands-on demonstration utilized to determine skill-set.
