Risk Safety Specialist

The Risk & Safety Specialist position is responsible for managing all functions of the risk management, safety and workers’ compensation programs. This position will report directly to the Plant Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Primary job function will consist of ensuring accident prevention for the entire organization.
· Responsible for providing guidance to all safety coordinators and standardizing all safety procedures throughout all locations.
· Strategically work on workers compensation to make it more cost effective.
· Responsible for overseeing and participating in environmental programs such as leading safety programs and incentives.
· Facilitate divisional efforts to establish safety steering team for local management.
· Improve operations leadership development in Safety program success monitoring.
· Facilitate active trade safety steering teams in every division.
· Develop/oversee training materials, tracking lists, other administrative functions.
· Determine/negotiate appropriate insurance and surety requirements for each company.
· Attend International Risk Management Institute conference to keep current with construction insurance.
· Verify payment of all invoices.
· Coordinate administrative functions of any risk management department direct reports.
· Endure compliance with contractual and fiduciary requirements in governing legal documents.
· Develop internal division and corporate policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, or related field from an accredited college or university required
Experience:
5 – 7 years of experience in insurance, risk, loss control and claim management
Skills:
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel)
Strong organizational skills
Must possess initiative and be highly motivated
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Familiar with standard insurance industry policy forms and endorsements
Must have firm understanding of federal and state safety law regulations as well as an understanding in finance.
