Behavior Technician Autism (Rosenberg)
Role Responsibilities
The Behavior Technician (BT) works as part of a treatment team at the Children’s Center for Autism, with the daily coaching of the BCBA, implementing individualized ABA programs and treatment plans. The BT provides direct one on one and small group training using ABA procedures for children with a diagnosis of autism and/or intellectual disabilities who display aggressive, disruptive, non-compliant, and/or self-abusive behavior. Training consists of skill acquisition for self-help skills, academic skills, social skills, communication skills, vocational skills, and basic attending skills. The BT assists with preference assessments and functional analyses, conducts direct observations, collects data, summarizes data, documents training progress, and implements SAMA and physical prompts. Some work will be observed by parents, teachers, and other staff. Training is presented during intense one on one, requiring high levels of energy and enthusiasm maintained throughout the 7-7.5 hour program day. BTs will help maintain a clean and safe environment as well as supervise daycare before or after treatment hours. Monthly continuing education is assigned and provided through Texana. There is a video monitoring system throughout the day treatment program which allows for frequent observation and occasional video recording with and without the BT’s prior knowledge. The BTs receive clinical supervision from the treatment team Behavior Analyst, employment supervision from the Children’s Center senior manager, manager, and daily coaching by the BAI, TS and/or aTS. BTs begin in a temporary position with no benefits and have the opportunity to apply for a full time position after 2 months. Promotions are given based on performance and attendance. When an employee is promoted to full-time, the hourly rate increases to $11.25 and the employee is eligible for full benefits.The employee is then eligible for an increase to $11.88 after 6 months. Employees receive free training to achieve the nationally recognized Registered Behavior Technician credential, once this is achieved the employee receives an increase to $13.28 per hour (which could be achieved earlier than 6 months).
Salary
- $21,840.00 per year/$10.50 per hour
- After 2 months, salary will increase to a full time position with benefits and $23,400 / $11.25 per hour, based on performance and attendance
- Once Registered Behavior Technician credential achieved, salary will increase to $27,622.40 / $13.28 per hour
Required Experience
- None
Preferred Experience
- Experience as a Behavior Technician in an ABA program
- Experience with individuals with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities including Autism
Skills, Education and/or Certifications Required
- ·High school diploma or GED
Skills, Education and/or Certifications Preferred
- ·Bachelor’s Degree in ABA, Psychology, Education, or a related field
Job Related Physical Requirements
- ·Must be able to perform SAMA and CPR. Training is provided to employees once hired
- Must be able to perform moderate to heavy lifting (15#- 45#), pushing, stooping, light carrying (15#), repeated bending, reaching above shoulder, simple grasping, hearing, walking, sitting and twisting
- Must have ability to see, write, operate office equipment, operate a motor vehicle and have depth perception.
