What Is a Remote SAAS and How to Become One

Remote Software as a Service (SaaS) jobs focus on developing, servicing, or otherwise providing software with its own integrated distribution platform, usually to allow any number of external users access to that software. In this role, you may help develop a SaaS product, promote the sales of software, or handle customer support and feedback to guide future changes to the software. SaaS jobs are similar to most other programming roles—the main distinction between SaaS and other software is the method of distribution, not how the software is coded. SaaS jobs often focus on regular updates to help retain existing users and attract new ones, so you may be asked to work overtime as needed to help get updates out on time. Remote SaaS jobs usually involve working over the internet to send and receive code, test products, conduct advertising, or perform any other related job.

The primary qualifications for getting a remote SaaS job are similar to getting positions in other areas of programming, and employers may look for a bachelor's degree in a relevant field or previous experience developing and working with software. Previous SaaS experience is helpful for standing out from other applicants, but usually not required—SaaS development is similar enough to other methods of producing software that many employers do not worry overmuch about the difference.
