The responsibilities of an insurance account manager revolve around the customer service aspect of insurance. You work with customers and clients to develop an ongoing relationship enabling future sales. You may also advise customers about policy changes and assist with claims. Your duties include answering customer inquiries about coverages and premiums. You also liaise with insurance providers and other members of the customer service team to make sure that your customers are getting adequate service and access to competitively priced insurance products.
How to Become an Insurance Account Manager
The qualifications to start a career as an insurance account manager include at least a high school diploma or GED certificate. Many employers expect account managers to be licensed insurance agents. Employers frequently prefer applicants who have a college degree in a subject such as business administration or accounting. Since part of this job involves creating relationships with clients and customers, you need strong communication and sales skills. If you work in a larger agency, you may oversee a team of assistants who can handle administrative, clerical, and sales tasks for you.
