Your job duties as a cath lab manager include overseeing the operations in a cardiac catheterization laboratory. Your responsibilities may consist of hiring employees, scheduling, and ensuring that the lab provides support to cardiologists and surgery teams before, during, and after a procedure. In this career, your focus is on organizing many aspects of patient care and, in some cases, working to ensure the quality of nursing care for patients. As a manager, you also ensure that clinical operations meet regulations and industry standards.

The qualifications that you need to work as a cath lab manager include specialized degrees and certifications. Some employers prefer applicants with a background in nursing. You may choose to pursue an associate degree or bachelor’s degree in nursing, or you can work in a related healthcare specialty, such as radiologic technologist. You also need certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
