A casting associate assists the casting director with finding suitable talent for a project or an acting role. As a casting associate, your primary duties involve holding casting calls and initial auditions to narrow down candidates for the casting director. You also collect resumes, headshots, and application paperwork.

To become a casting associate, you typically need relevant experience in the entertainment industry and a strong network of contacts. Although you do not necessarily need a college education for the job, it may be beneficial to have a background in film, theatre, media, or communications, as the field is highly competitive. Some casting associates start their career with an entry-level position as a casting assistant and move up as they gain important skills and experience.
