As a Benefits Specialist you will provide benefit administration and customer service to our clients. Ensure accurate data entry into the HRIS system; support compliance with all applicable local, state and federal regulations, ensure accuracy of reporting to benefit vendors. Support enrollment, transactions and inquiries related to health and ancillary plans. Responsible for data entry based on employee online elections, life status change forms or benefit enrollment forms; including US, Canada and International benefits. Research and trouble shoot to correct benefit enrollment, and benefit premium collection issues and/or benefit carrier file discrepancies.

In this role, you will help drive a positive and engaged associate base by supporting the HR, Benefits and the Operations team. Duties and responsibilities are as followed, but not limited to:

Essential Duties:

  • Respond to and/or contact colleagues as required to resolve health benefit related inquiries, issues, or escalations.
  • Provide assistance to Corporate HR as needed for internal colleague benefits related inquiries, issues or escalations.
  • Administer payroll audits for benefits plan deductions and advise appropriate individuals /teams of corrections (debits/credits) required, to ensure accurate payroll processing.
  • Maintain general benefit life event processing; monitor and correct errors accordingly.
  • Ensure coverage changes are updated with benefit vendors in a timely manner.
  • Process medical support orders, evidence of insurability reports, billing discrepancy reports, and/or ensure compliance with state specific benefit coverage regulations based on report output.
  • Track and troubleshoot reoccurring systems issues and coordinate with IT and Operations teams to for resolution.
  • Provide end user systems testing for standing projects and adhoc system enhancements
  • Provide escalation support for other Benefits Specialists.
  • Document and train colleagues on new interdepartmental processes and process updates.
  • Act as subject matter expert and provide cross-functional project support as related to projects requiring active benefits processing knowledge.
  • Provide Tier II phone support.
  • Deliver superior written and verbal customer service.
  • Provide administrative and data entry support in related departments including, but not limited to COBRA, Leave of Absence, Flexible Spending Account.
  • Work cross-functionally with colleagues to deliver exceptional customer service and build cohesive interdepartmental relationships.
  • Provide on the job, entry level training to new team members, and colleagues assisting from other departments.
  • Provide support to clients with Leave of Absence and Education Assistance processing.
  • Provide support to clients with data entry for new hires and changes.
  • Provide support to clients maintaining Status non-exempt time keeping system.
  • Provide support to clients with record keeping/document controls.
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the Company/Manager’s discretion.

Education & Experience:

  • Basic typing, computer, and data entry skills.
  • Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office programs Excel and Word. Beginning to Intermediate skill level in Microsoft office program PowerPoint
  • Minimum 1 year experience with HRIS systems.
  • Proven experience in customer service environment
  • Previous experience in benefits administration
  • Proven critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Previous experience in administering COBRA or leave plans a plus
  • Experience working in a HR Outsourcing/PEO environment a plus
  • Previous experience in health and welfare benefits training and/or process documentation a plus.
