Job description

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead design, development, integration, enhancements for Hogan IDS (Deposit System) in a regulated mainframe banking environment. This role owns complex batch and online components, drives performance and reliability, and partners closely with product, operations, and risk teams to deliver audit-ready, customer-impacting outcomes. Additionally, the role will lead moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within technical domain environments, contribute to large-scale planning of strategies, and design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs associated with technology domain, including upgrades and deployments. You will review moderately complex technical challenges requiring in-depth evaluation of technologies and procedures, resolve moderately complex issues, and lead a team to meet existing client needs or potential new client needs while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, or compliance requirements. Collaboration and consultation with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals is essential. The role will also lead projects, act as an escalation point, and provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff while functioning as an individual contributor. Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within technical domain environments including Mainframe Hogan

  • Contribute to large scale planning of strategies

  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs associated with technology domain, including upgrades and deployments

  • Review moderately complex technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of technologies and procedures

  • Resolve moderately complex issues and lead a team to meet existing client needs or potential new clients needs while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, or compliance requirements

  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals

  • Lead projects and act as an escalation point, provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff


Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Software Engineering experience-hands-on with Hogan IDS

Desired Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of professional software engineering experience in enterprise environments

  • 4+ years hands-on with Hogan IDS or equivalent core banking deposit platforms

  • 4+ years with COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS on z/OS

  • Strong DB2 SQL skills (DML/DDL), query optimization, and performance tuning

  • Proficiency in batch scheduling (e.g., CA7) and mainframe source control (e.g., Endevor/ISPW)

  • Experience integrating Hogan with MQ and distributed systems; solid understanding of job control and recovery

  • Proven delivery in regulated financial services; and ITIL change management (Service Now)

  • Track record operating in Agile teams with disciplined testing, CI/CD practices via Endevor, and code reviews

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and structured problem-solving skills

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$100,000.00 - $163,000.00
