JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior Software Analyst – Data Remediation & Legacy System Conversion to support a critical modernization initiative. This role is responsible for developing data remediation programs and SQL scripts required for the conversion phase of the project.
The successful candidate will also analyze and document the business rules and embedded logic within COBOL and other platform-specific code on a decades-old mainframe system. They will play a pivotal role in uncovering the intricacies of legacy applications and translating those findings into clear, comprehensive documentation.
This documentation will enable system integrators to accurately design and execute the migration of historical data to modern platforms.
The role requires a strong understanding of legacy technologies, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
TECHNICAL SKILLS Must Have
Advanced proficiency in SQL, including stored procedures
Demonstrated ability to produce clear, accurate technical documentation for system integrators and project stakeholders
Experience working with SAR View, VSAM, DFSORT, and IDCAMS
Extensive experience supporting and enhancing long-standing mainframe systems in production environments
In-depth knowledge of COBOL and the ability to interpret and document legacy system logic
Proficiency with QMF reporting, SPUFI, File Manager, and CA Intertest
Proven expertise in data mapping and functional workflow migration
Solid understanding of system conversion and data migration from legacy platforms to modern architectures
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex legacy code and extract business rules
Strong hands-on experience with COBOL 6.4, CICS TS, and DB2 (v12.1)

Nice To Have
Demonstrated learning agility, with the ability to quickly adopt new technologies and methodologies
Experience with CICS Web Interface, web services, and API management
Experience with MQ or similar messaging and queuing technologies
Experience with the SCANA application, including development of integration modules for work management systems
Experience with utility work management workflows or other type of Utility Workflow.
Familiarity with additional programming languages such as Java, C++, or Python
Proficiency in PowerPoint and Visio for technical documentation and presentations
Working knowledge of Agile development methodologies and iterative delivery practices
