About the Role: We are looking for an Experienced Health Economist to join Gore Medical's Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) team. This position is US-focused, and covers multiple products and disease states. You will conduct cost-effectiveness, cost-utility and budget impact analyses of healthcare interventions; conceptualize, design and implement health economic models to understand and evaluate the clinical and economic benefit of medical devices and therapeutic interventions; demonstrate the value of interventions beyond efficacy; and assess the benefits, risks, and economic consequences associated with healthcare interventions. Typical projects include leveraging both prospective and retrospective data sources in health economic modeling to conduct cost-effectiveness and cost-utility analyses of healthcare interventions; and implementing decision-analytic models (e.g., business impact models, decision trees, Markov, individual state transition, survival partition), research, and data analytics.

This position offers multiple work arrangements: on-site at one of our facilities in Phoenix or Flagstaff Arizona or in Elkton, Maryland; hybrid or fully remote work allowed in most locations within the United States, depending upon the responsibilities of the role and business needs.*

Responsibilities:
  • Design and execute economic studies (e.g., cost-effectiveness or cost-utility analyses, and budget impact models, cost calculators) including real world evidence (RWE) generation plans
  • Process, validate, maintain, and integrate large data sets from multiple sources
  • Ensure the accuracy and validity of both source data and analytic output; review and finalize project deliverables; ensure study findings are valid and reliable
  • Implement tactical activities required to achieve HEOR objectives (e.g., preparation of systematic literature reviews / meta-analyses to identify evidence gaps, assist in the design and evaluation of clinical studies with economic endpoints in mind, select appropriate analytical instruments, and select other health economic measures or data collection tools for inclusion in clinical trials
  • Partner with Clinical Affairs to ensure inclusion of economic evidence and patient reported outcome measures in study databases
  • Support the development and effective use of marketing materials containing economic value information generated or acquired by the HEOR team
  • Generate and disseminate economic evidence in support of global Value Dossiers and promotional material for Value Analysis Committees
  • Collaborate with physician customers to publish and present economic data analyses and value justifications, including participation in medical congresses, presentation of abstracts, and publication in peer-reviewed journals
  • Increased awareness and understanding of HEOR and its role in supporting the success of Gore medical products


Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Master's degree in Health Economics, Health Information Management, Outcomes Research, Data Science, or a related field of study
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in health economics, economic modeling, and/or data analytics
  • Broad experience in health economics and development of analytic models suitable for internal and external decision-making, demonstrating value and supporting reimbursement-related decisions
  • Podium presentation of abstracts and/or publication of manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience working with health administrative databases (e.g., CMS, HCUP, Premier)
  • Computer skills: proficiency in Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint; advanced Microsoft Excel modeling skills; proficiency in SQL, Python, R, SAS, and/or STATA
  • Highly effective organizational, analytical, and verbal/written communication skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to efficiently process and integrate large, complex datasets; adapt to evolving demands; and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work well independently and in cross-functional teams
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with Health Technology Assessments (HTA), and healthcare coding and reimbursement
  • Strong project management skills
  • Medical device industry experience
*Remote Working Arrangements are permitted for Associates in the continental United States (US) and Canada, with appropriate approval and compliance with Gore's remote working policies, from the country in which they are employed.
