What We Look For In a AP Psychology Tutor
  • Advanced Subject Mastery: Deep knowledge of biological bases of behavior, sensation and perception, learning, cognition, developmental psychology, motivation and emotion, clinical psychology, social psychology, and research methods. Ability to explain neurotransmitter functions, classical and operant conditioning, memory models, psychological disorders, and therapeutic approaches while preparing students for the AP Psychology examination.

Emphasizes connecting psychological theories to everyday behavior, mental health awareness, and ethical research practices.
  • Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with AP Psychology curriculum across nine units and common challenges such as memorizing neuroscience terminology, distinguishing similar psychological disorders, and applying multiple theoretical perspectives to free-response scenarios. Adapts instruction using mnemonic devices, case study analysis, and AP-style practice to support students building psychological knowledge for the examination and introductory college psychology.
  • Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
  • Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
