KNOWLEDGE OF DRUGS AND THEIR INDICATIONS, CONTRAINDICATIONS, DOSING, SIDE EFFECTS, AND PROPER ADMINISTRATION. KNOWLEDGE OF POLICIES AND PROCEDURES PERTAINING TO THE DISBURSEMENT OF PHARMACEUTICAL DRUGS. SKILL IN THE USE OF PERSONAL COMPUTERS AND RELATED SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS. VERBAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATION SKILLS. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS TO INTERACT WITH A WIDE RANGE OF CONSTITUENCIES. THE INCUMBENT MUST MAINTAIN GENERAL KNOWLEDGE OF APPROPRIATE MEDICATIONS FOR VARIOUS AGE POPULATIONS OF UMMC-GRENADA: NEWBORN, PEDIATRIC, GERIATRIC, ETC. THIS POSITION REQUIRES THE FULL UNDERSTANDING AND ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN FULFILLING THE MISSION OF UMMC-GRENADA. THE EMPLOYEE IS EXPECTED TO DEMONSTRATE BEHAVIOR CONSISTENT WITH UMMC VALUES. RESPONSIBILITIES
- RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING PRESCRIBED MEDICATIONS AND OTHER PHARMACEUTICALS AS NEEDED FOR PATIENT CARE WHICH INCLUDES COMPOUNDING, DISPENSING AND LABELING OF DRUGS, INTERPRETING AND EVALUATING PRESCRIPTIONS, HANDLING AND STORING MEDICATIONS.
- ACTS AS A CONSULTANT TO MEDICAL AND NURSING STAFF AS NEEDED AND MAINTAINS PRESCRIPTION RECORDS AND ANY OTHER ACTIVITIES INCLUDED IN THE PRACTICE OF PHARMACY.
- PERFORMS ACTIVITIES ACCORDING TO PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS IN COMPLIANCE WITH ESTABLISHED POLICIES AND PROCEDURES OF THE HOSPITAL AND WITH FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL REGULATIONS GOVERNING PHARMACY OPERATION AND HANDLING OF MEDICATIONS.
- THE DUTIES LISTED ARE GENERAL IN NATURE AND ARE EXAMPLES OF THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES PERFORMED AND ARE NOT MEANT TO BE CONSTRUED AS EXCLUSIVE OR ALL-INCLUSIVE. MANAGEMENT RETAINS THE RIGHT TO ADD OR CHANGE DUTIES AT ANY TIME.

Requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, occasional exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional travelling to offsite locations, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, constant work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, occasional reaching, frequent sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking.
