Quality Systems Engineer – Be the Backbone of Aerospace Excellence

At Universal Avionics, we've spent decades building the avionics systems trusted by pilots and operators around the world. Our Quality team is the foundation that ensures every product we deliver meets the highest standards in aerospace, and we're looking for a Quality Systems Engineer who's passionate about building and sustaining that foundation.

This is not a passive compliance role. You'll be an active driver of our Quality Management System, developing procedures, leading audits, building data dashboards, and working directly with engineering, operations, and leadership to keep our QMS sharp, compliant, and continuously improving.

You'll Thrive Here When...
  • You take ownership of quality systems and don't wait to be told what needs fixing
  • You enjoy translating complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable documentation
  • You're comfortable leading audits and presenting findings to management and external stakeholders
  • You're data-driven and can turn quality metrics into meaningful visual insights
  • You thrive in a collaborative, cross-functional manufacturing environment
What You'll Work On
  • Author, revise, and maintain controlled QMS documentation in compliance with AS9100 Rev D and 14 CFR §21.137
  • Plan, schedule, and execute internal audits; document findings, issue NCRs, and drive corrective action closure
  • Build and maintain quality KPI dashboards using Power BI, Databricks, or equivalent tools to support Management Review
  • Conduct gap analyses against AS9100, FAA Part 21, and Part 145 to identify procedural deficiencies and lead closure
  • Support external audits, customer source inspections, and FAA surveillance activities
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with 14 CFR Part 21 PAH requirements under §21.137
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical field (equivalent experience considered)
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in quality engineering or quality systems within aerospace, aviation, or electronics manufacturing
  • Demonstrated experience developing or maintaining an AS9100 or ISO 9001 compliant QMS
  • Hands-on internal audit experience required; lead auditor certification preferred
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis methods (5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, Is/Is Not)
  • Experience with Power BI, Databricks, or similar data visualization platforms preferred
  • FAA Part 21 (§21.137) production approval environment experience preferred; Part 145 familiarity a plus
Why Engineers Love Working Here
  • Work that directly supports aviation safety and global flight operations
  • High visibility role with meaningful ownership of the QMS
  • Exposure to aerospace regulatory frameworks across FAA, AS9100, and customer requirements
  • Opportunity to modernize quality data infrastructure with real operational impact
  • Career growth within a company with decades of aerospace credibility
