The Staff Accountant role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment supporting enterprise-wide initiatives for a middle-market Government Contracting company. The successful candidate will support the Accounts Payable, General Ledger and Tax related functions of the P2P (procure-to-pay) workstream in a multi-entity environment. This position will report to the Accounting Manager who oversees the day-to-day accounting activities.

Specific duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Process full-cycle Accounts Payable transactions in Deltek Costpoint & QuickBooks
  • Review and process expense reports in accordance with JTR/FTR and company policies
  • Perform reconciliation of the Accounts Payable related General Ledger accounts for month-end and year-end
  • Maintain electronic vendor files to ensure proper documentation retention for all processed transactions
  • Research and resolve vendor invoice and payment issues
  • Identify and assess sales tax on appropriate invoices
  • Support the preparation and filing of tax schedules, business licenses and permits
  • Assist with external audit requests
  • Maintain Vendor W9 files and prepare/mail annual 1099's
  • Order office supplies and misc. purchases as requested by departments

Required Skills & Experience:
  • At least two years' experience with Accounts Payable
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in Deltek Costpoint 7.0 and 7.1. Prefer Costpoint 8.0
  • Advanced organizational skills, time management and flexibility
  • A strong attention to detail
  • Proactive learning ability, a strong work ethic, and a high level of personal integrity
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications:
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a BS in Accounting, but other related field will be considered. Pursuing an accounting degree will be considered.
  • Experience in accounting operations in Commercial, State, Local, Educational as well as Federal Markets
  • Hands-on experience in non-Deltek Accounting Systems (Quickbooks, Jamis, Unanet, etc.).
  • Knowledge of state filing process
  • Experience working in multi-entity environment and intercompany payables
