LOCATION: Normal, IL, one of three campus locations 

PAY: $15-21/hour based on experience, education, and certifications. Those without a teaching license are offered the $15.00/hr rate. Higher range for those with LBS-1 and long-term substitute agreements. 

BASIC FUNCTION: Substitute staff work in cooperation with lead teachers and other classroom staff to plan, coordinate, and implement a comprehensive educational and behavioral program for students. Supervise classroom activities and assists in collecting data, organizing materials, and implementing strategies consistent with the social learning model of the program. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Behavioral Treatment: Implements the clinical behavioral treatment program according to guidelines, including individualized programming and crisis intervention.
  2. Social Skills Training: Implements social skills training and integrates social skills curriculum throughout the day.
  3. Educational Instruction: Under the direction of the lead teacher, plans, coordinates, evaluates, and implements a comprehensive curriculum which meets the individualized behavioral, academic and social needs of each student enrolled in the classroom and which is directly related to each child's Individualized Educational Plan. Assesses student performance levels (behavioral and academic) and recommends appropriate goals and objectives in the IEP staffing process as assigned.
  4. Interdisciplinary Team Structure: Works with the lead teacher in a team teaching capacity. Cooperates with the administrative/supervisory and support staff in planning for and scheduling programming and/or services for the students and/or their families. Attends meetings as assigned.
  5. Lesson Planning: Assists with development and implementation of lesson plans that reflect best practice in specialized educational instruction.
  6. Progress Reporting: May assist with collection, preparation and presentation of behavioral and academic data on children in the classroom. May maintain behavioral data and apply statistical analysis as required by program standards to measure student progress.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Paraprofessional licensure and previous experience with a relevant population preferred.
