Responsibilities
- We are seeking a versatile contract designer to join our Experience Design team working on our in-restaurant ordering experiences.
- This is a hands-on role focused on both product discovery and design deliverables.
- The position involves participating in the entire design lifecycle - such as conducting user research, translating research data into actionable user flows, customer journey mapping, service blueprints, wireframes, signal testing, and high-fidelity designs.
- Your attention to detail is world-class, your design skills impeccable, and you love putting structure around difficult problems.
- Look for opportunities to improve the way things work.
- Help maintain a strong user focus throughout the entire product lifecycle process.
- Design solutions that are user-centric while also meeting business goals.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements by considering market analysis, user feedback, metrics, and usability findings.
- Will work closely with senior designers and design leadership to grow craft, confidence, and impact over time.
- Will partner closely with product management and engineering teams to drive innovation and push the boundaries of what's possible.
- Participate in the design review cycle and close on design requirements.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams; not just gathering business requirements but support in defining them.
- 2+ years of experience in user centered experience design, with a focus on commerce.
- Experience working with UX researchers and acting on the research analysis in their design work.
- A design thinker who looks holistically for solutions that span the entire customer journey.
- Understand and can speak to the importance of having familiarity with technical considerations needed across the various platforms we're designing for.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience applying Accessibility best practices (WCAG).
- POS / Kiosk experience
- Comfortable with ambiguity, passionate about design, and able to take on their own work with regular guidance and feedback from other design leaders.
- Requires demonstrable expertise in solutions with strong design work, design sensibility, and articulate storytelling.
- You thrive on being hands-on and immersive.
- Portfolios that demonstrate:
- Familiarity with UX research methods
- Demonstrated ability to apply product thinking to design solutions
- A demonstrated capacity for UX diagramming (journeys and flows)
- Delivery of highly polished detailed designs in Figma and translating that into JIRA or similar
- Demonstrated facility with modern consumer and internal experiences
- Demonstrates creative design thinking with an understanding of Human Centered Design.

Technical Certification Bonus: Synectics is pleased to award its employees a bonus of up to $500 for an approved professional certification. In determining the bonus amount, Synectics will consider the cost of the test(s) for any certification relating to your current position, achieved during your employment with us. Only one Certification Bonus per calendar year may be awarded per employee. Only current, active employees will be eligible to receive this bonus. It will be awarded 90 days after the Synectics office has received documentation confirming the successful completion of the certification.
