Description
Position Summary:The Database Architect owns the data architecture for the platform. You will design the data models, storage strategy, and data-flow patterns for a high-volume filing platform on AWS, ensuring performance, integrity, security, and regulatory auditability.
Key Responsibilities:- Own the target-state data architecture and data models for the platform
- Design storage, partitioning, and access strategies on AWS data services (Aurora, DynamoDB, S3, Redshift)
- Define data governance, lineage, and quality standards
- Architect data pipelines, integration, and dissemination patternsEnsure data security, encryption, and regulatory auditability
- Partner with product and cloud architects on cross-domain data concerns
- Support analytics and AI/ML data enablement
- Review data designs and mentor database developers

Requirements
Non-Technical Requirements:- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be willing to work a HYRBID Schedule (2 Days) in Reston, VA & client locations in the Washington D.C. area as required.
- Ability to pass a 7-year background check and obtain/maintain a U.S. Government Clearance
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Must be able to prioritize and self-start.
- Must be adaptable/flexible as priorities shift.
- Must be enthusiastic and have passion for learning and constant improvement.
- Must be open to collaboration, feedback and client asks.
- Must enjoy working with a vibrant team of outgoing personalities.
- 10+ years of data engineering/architecture experience
- Deep expertise in data modeling and both relational and NoSQL databases
- Experience with AWS data services at scale
- Strong understanding of data governance and security
- AWS data/analytics certification
- Financial-regulatory or high-volume systems experience
- Familiarity with AI/ML data enablement
