Oral Surgery Dental Assistant

Peak Dental Implants & Oral Surgery is opening a brand-new, purpose-built oral surgery practice in Windsor, Connecticut, led by an established oral and maxillofacial surgeon. We are seeking an experienced Oral Surgery Dental Assistant to join our founding clinical team and support both surgical care and overall patient experience.

This role is ideal for a confident oral surgery assistant who is comfortable supporting IV sedation cases, maintaining high clinical standards, and stepping in to assist with front office and patient-facing responsibilities as needed in a collaborative, team-oriented practice.

What You'll Do

  • Assist the surgeon during surgical procedures, including IV sedation cases
  • Perform preoperative and postoperative duties to support safe, high-quality patient care
  • Maintain aseptic technique and ensure strict adherence to infection control and sterilization protocols
  • Prepare and maintain an organized, unobstructed operative field using surgical instrumentation, suction, and irrigation
  • Anticipate surgeon needs and ensure required instruments, equipment, and supplies are available
  • Monitor patients intraoperatively and support post-operative recovery workflows
  • Obtain dental radiographs and imaging as required
  • Complete accurate clinical documentation and patient narratives
  • Support treatment coordination by reinforcing treatment plans and post-operative instructions with patients
  • Assist with answering phones, checking patients in and out, and supporting front office flow as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and practice policies
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative team members to ensure smooth daily operations

What You Bring

  • Prior hands-on oral surgery assisting experience, including IV sedation cases is a plus
  • Ability to work efficiently and confidently in a fast-paced surgical environment with minimal ramp-up
  • BLS certification (required)
  • ICE certification (required)
  • Radiology certification (DANB RHS or equivalent) required
  • DAANCE certification strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterilization, and infection control standards
  • Excellent patient care skills with a calm, professional demeanor
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to anticipate surgeon needs
  • Reliable, adaptable, and team-oriented with a willingness to support across clinical and front office functions
