DescriptionThe restaurant Host/Hostess is the first employee to interact with arriving guests as they enter the restaurant. It is the job of the hostess to greet arriving guests, welcome them into the establishment and seat them in a friendly, professional manner.The Host/Hostess is a personal representation of the service and overall hospitality of the staff of the restaurant. While guests are waiting to be seated or waiting for take-out orders to be ready, it is the job of the hostess to ensure that the guests are made comfortable and kept informed of the status of their orders or wait times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Greets and seats guests, presents menus to guests, informs them of special catch and soups.
  • Treats all guests in a manner to ensure their complete satisfaction. Always strives to exceed guests' expectations.
  • Takes names on a waiting list.
  • Runs the floor plan board; maintain and make daily entries in the log book to coordinate communication between shifts and management.
  • Observes tables and keeps track of clean, dirty and occupied tables.
  • Takes guest information and quotes wait times to guests accurately when tables are not immediately available.
  • Cleans, organizes and stocks menus at host area.
  • Answers phone for booking reservations and answers questions concerning the menu and restaurant.
  • Interacts with guests as they arrive and as they leave the restaurant to ensure positive dining experience.
  • Fills to-go orders, if applicable.
  • Maintains restrooms throughout shift.
  • Sweeps foyer and front entrance area frequently.
  • Performs other duties as directed.
  • Have knowledge of all hotel and resort operations and services so guest questions can be accurately answered.
  • Perform opening and closing duties. Assist others with side work to include cleaning, stocking, and folding napkins.
Qualifications

REQUISITE SKILLS:

Energetic and motivated, our Hosts/Hostesses have excellent customer service skills and are a team player. This position requires that you are professional, attentive, and detail oriented – ensuring that our guests have a memorable dining experience.

  • Be upbeat and friendly.
  • Minimum of one year restaurant or customer service experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – English language
  • Ability to work well with the general public
  • Ability to work well under pressure

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to twenty (20) pounds with both hands
  • Ability to stand throughout shift
  • Bend, lift, kneel, squat, walk up and down stairs

UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Non-slip industry specific dress shoes are required
  • Uniform provided by Ocean Edge
  • Team Members must maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance:
    • Clear or light natural nail polish
    • Facial hair is not permitted
    • Hair must be kept back or trimmed short
    • Minimal jewelry
