Job Title: Fire Alarm System Inspector
Location: Various territories (100% travel required)
Salary: $74,000.00 - $104,000.00 per year
Job Summary:
We are seeking certified and licensed Fire Alarm System Inspectors to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting and testing fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems to ensure compliance with NFPA standards and state/local regulations. You must hold the required certifications or licenses in New Jersey (or be willing to obtain them).
Required Certifications & Licensing:
  • New Jersey Division of Fire Safety (DFS) Fire Protection Contractor Permit (Fire Alarm Systems) or
  • NICET Level II (or higher) in Fire Alarm Systems or
  • New Jersey Electrical Contractor License (exempt from DFS permit) or
  • NJ Board of Examiners Fire Alarm, Burglar Alarm & Locksmith License (NJAC 13:31A)
  • NFPA 72 knowledge and compliance required

Candidates without the required NJ licensing or NICET certification will not be considered.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Fire Alarm & Sprinkler Inspection:
  • Schedule and conduct quarterly and annual inspections of fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems
  • Perform full NFPA 72-compliant inspections and testing on fire alarm systems
  • Coordinate with local fire departments to avoid response to testing
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and repair minor fire alarm system issues on-site
  • Communicate required repairs and follow-up actions to the Service Department

Technical & Compliance Expertise:
  • Ensure compliance with NJ state licensing laws and DFS contractor regulations
  • Maintain knowledge of NFPA, IBC, NEC, and New Jersey state/local codes
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections and service reports
  • Perform visual and functional testing of system components

Customer & Field Coordination:
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding inspection results
  • Document and report all deficiencies, test results, and system status
  • Use Apple iPad and mobile service software for documentation and reporting
  • Coordinate efficiently with the Area Coordinator for scheduling and job updates

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Required Certifications/Licenses: (see list above)
  • Experience: Minimum 2+ years in fire alarm system inspections
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in electronics, fire protection, or related field preferred
  • Strong understanding of NFPA 72, fire alarm system operations, and electrical/low voltage systems
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., work on 8-ft ladders, and perform physical tasks
  • Valid driver's license required (must have reliable transportation)
  • Ability to work Monday-Friday (8 AM - 5 PM), plus occasional after-hours emergencies
  • 100% travel required within your assigned territory

Preferred Qualifications:
  • NICET Level III or IV in Fire Alarm Systems
  • Experience working with Siemens, Honeywell, Notifier, Simplex, Edwards/EST, or Gamewell fire alarm systems
  • Knowledge of fire suppression and fire sprinkler system inspection a plus
  • Background in low-voltage electrical work or security systems
