Job description

This position oversees the design development and technical evaluation of mechanical systems for multiple projects. It requires a deep understanding of mechanical engineering design work and helps to solve complex issues. They prepare plans, drawings, calculations, equipment choices, and engineering reports, as well as review full project documents for compliance and quality control. This role also evaluates the sustainable performance of complicated engineering projects from the systems point of view, analyzes complex engineering projects for design requirements, ambiguities, and constraints, and applies progressively developed expertise to solve critical issues or unique conditions.
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Manage engineering activities and mentors technical staff in learning sound technical practices.
2. Maintain education on industry trends, new technologies, evaluate technical solutions, cost benefit comparisons and life cycle cost analysis.
3. Plan and conduct work requiring judgment in independent evaluation, selection, adoption and modifications of standard and complex techniques and procedures.
4. Perform and provide team direction to achieve targeted project financial performance, quality and schedule.
5. Lead project meetings to ensure scope clarification, task responsibilities, timeline, and expectations.
6. Execute design concepts, construction documents, engineering reports, incentive opportunities, and as needed to ensure that project objectives are met.
7. Lead team conformity to project requirements, maintenance of project records, and construction activities to ensure projects are successful.
8. Collaborate with other departments to execute projects, risk assessments, and ensure designs that are economically viable.
9. Lead technical requirements for business development, preparation of cost estimates, client proposals, administration of project contracts, and project billings. 10. Review and provide feedback on the designs of other engineers. Ensure all engineering designs implemented by the company meet applicable company, local, state, and national codes, and standards.
11. Maintain budgets, monitoring and updating project costs from reporting systems. 12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
1. Valid driver's license
2. Travel required. Must be able to travel to job sites up to 25% of the time. Also included is travel to manufacturers for training and office meetings.

Qualifications:
1. Associate degree in Engineering or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred. Higher education degree a plus. 2
. 10+ years of experience in building infrastructure and/or energy reduction initiatives. Proven portfolio of completed projects required.
3. Experience with project management and team management required. Experience with sales and marketing preferred.
4. Additional certifications (i.e. CEM, LEED AP, EIT, or PE) also a plus.
5. Proficient with planning, scheduling, and coordinating detailed phases of projects. 6. Ability to coordinate information exchange between clients, project manager, and project team.
7. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office products.
8. Expert knowledge of applicable codes and industry standards
9. Expert knowledge of safety standards and environmental impact of a design.
10. Strong knowledge of the respective engineering field and detailed understanding of industry processes.
11. Strong communication and customer service skills required.
12. Ability to adapt and be flexible in a changing environment.
13. Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
14. Must be able to deal with a large volume of work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
