The club is owned and governed by a membership of 22,000 and operated by staff in a beautiful downtown clubhouse with 600,000 square feet of athletic and social spaces. General Position Summary: This a fast-paced customer service-oriented food preparation position that serves members, guests, and staff.

Essential Job Functions/Major Responsibilities:

  • Ability to speak, read and write English.
  • Ensures that members, guests, and employees receive an enthusiastic, prompt, positive, service over the counter.
  • Needs to be a dynamic and hardworking member of the team; must be willing to lend a helping hand to any teammate at any time.
  • Displays a fresh, optimistic, and amiable attitude at all times. Leave all outside problems at the door.
  • Needs to be able to think quickly on your feet and successfully multi-task.
  • Needs to have a strong knowledge of the menu, including ability to answer most questions from members or guests.
  • Replenishes all stock items as needed and on a regular basis.
  • Performs cleaning and sanitizing duties as necessary or instructed by team lead, supervisor, or manager.
  • Makes espresso drinks and smoothies according to Joe's standards.
  • Performs food preparation functions, which include making deli sandwiches or hot items such as hot dogs, pizza, and pretzels according to Joe's standards.
  • Receives membership numbers from members and employees. Checks charge tickets for account number accuracy.
  • Runs credit/debit transactions for guests.
  • Respond promptly and positively to management direction and request.
  • Ensure all timing standards are met either by accomplishing them personally or ensuring that another member of the team accomplishes them.
  • Maintain and correctly handle equipment and supplies so that unnecessary wear and tear, breakage, and waste do not occur.
  • Practices proper sanitation and food handling procedures.
  • Properly rotates all product- prepared grab & go items, retail food and drinks, and house prepared items.
  • Completes shift opening, closing and side work duties as assigned by management, supervisor or team leads.
  • Maintains a clean and professional appearance.
  • Serves alcohol responsibly according to guidelines, with possession of a OLCC license.
  • Takes out garbage and recycling, as necessary.
  • Washes dishes for use all day.
  • Complies with all Club safety policies and procedures demonstrating safe work practices. Identifies and reports unsafe or hazardous work conditions. Reports all workplace injuries and illnesses to supervisor.
  • Promotes the MAC code of conduct in club activities and demonstrates the importance of providing quality service to members.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.


Secondary Functions:

  • Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor or manager.
  • Assists with Joe's kitchen production team needs as necessary or as assigned by supervisor or manager.
  • Participates in all club-related training classes.


Job Scope:

Maintenance of a regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function. If you are not performing at the desired level and/or not fulfilling the job functions for the restaurant, you are subject to losing shifts. The schedule is performance based and the understanding that if any of the job requirements are not met that you are subject to being sent home, corrective actions and/or termination. Teamwork is essential. When busy, every team member is on point with the goal of providing fast transactions, food and drink look and taste up to standard, served in a timely manner. During slow periods or lulls, always making sure member facing areas are clean and organized; dishes are being done to avoid piling up. Deep cleaning projects should be performed regularly.

Interpersonal Contacts:

We see members of various ages and staff throughout the day. It can vary from a simple one item transaction to forming a professional relationship that involves knowing their order preferences or personal information. Constant and accurate exchange of information with Joe's line cooks is vital to keeping prepared product fresh consistent, and timely. Interactions with other staff members from other departments including maintenance, housekeeping, or technology staff for matters regarding operations.

Specific Job Skills:

  • Physical ability to stand for long periods of time, bend, reach, twist, and lift at least 20 pounds regularly & climb stairs required.
  • Excellent customer service and decision-making skills.
  • Physical ability to operate point of sales system, professional cooking equipment including knives, espresso machine, blender, and ovens.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, members, and staff.
  • Ability to perform the essential job functions.


Education and/or Experience:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Possession of a valid Food handler's and OLCC (18 and older only) card mandatory.
  3. Prior experience in a similar environment (coffee shop, sandwich shop) preferred.


Job Conditions:

  • Outlet is in the basement level. Expect to use stairs and elevators a lot.
  • The space is small. Expect to get close with your teammates.
  • This position spends 100% of the time standing.
  • We work with professional kitchen equipment. Hot ovens and hot food out of the oven, hot water dispensers and espresso machine, hot soup, dishes out of the dishwasher can cause burns. Blenders, milkshake mixer and ovens are loud. Plenty of sharp objects present. Be mindful, aware, and communicate loudly when behind someone.
  • Must be available to work irregular hours including holidays, evenings, and weekend- as necessary.
  • Fluctuations in business is normal and expected. Depending on staffing level, expect possibilities such as: getting cut, staying past scheduled time, or accruing overtime.
  • Schedule is subject to change with ample notice. Preference may not be guaranteed based on other's availability.

In an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our facilities, we have implemented specific precautionary measures and processes for employees. Beginning October 1, 2021, all MAC employees must be fully vaccinated or have been approved for a legal exception. Fully vaccinated is defined as two weeks following receiving the second dose of a two-dose or one dose of a single-dose COVID-19 vaccination.
