z/OS Systems Programmer
Location: NYC (Remote)
Duration: 2 years Contract Position (35 hours/ week)
Requirements
Client has a vacancy for a z/OS Systems Programmer whose primary responsibility will include:
Ongoing maintenance (install, patching, upgrades, administration, etc.,) of the mainframe z/OS operating system, accompanying storage systems and systems software products (e.g., database, transaction server, security management, scheduling, report distribution, etc.), and UNIX Systems Services.
Ongoing maintenance and upgrades of DB2.
Upgrades of mainframe and related storage.
The candidate will be required to provide production off hour coverage (if necessary) and support periodic weekend implementations.
Experience / Preferred Qualifications:
The candidate must have experience with VTAM and TCP/IP.
10+ years of experience working with z/OS, JES2, SMP/E, TSO, IOCP/HCD. Basic IBM utilities (IDCAMS, IEFBR14, etc.) program product installations, working knowledge or the IBM virtual tape system and Unix System Services.
Working knowledge of CICS, IMS, DB2 and AFP printing is a plus.
Experience in using monitoring tools such as OMEGAMON.
Working with an enterprise wide, large-scale implementation.
Excellent communications skills (Oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills are required.
The candidate must have experience with mainframe CPU installs as a systems programmer consultant.
Education:
Bachelor's degree or 10+ years of experience in relevant technical field is required.
