Truck Driver

This position is responsible for maintaining efficient transportation between sites and to maximize the optimal flow of product.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Support the mission and vision of Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan.
2. Transport merchandise between Goodwill, commercial, and residential sites.
3. Follow through on all shipping and receiving, scheduled at any time.
4. Maintain high degree of professionalism and customer service with all areas of the agency and donors.
5. Effectively communicate with all areas of the agency.
6. Drive trucks and other equipment in a safe and law abiding manner.
7. Maintain inspections, safety requirements, and cleanliness on trucks, Hilo, baler and any other equipment.
8. Report and document any mechanical problems or violations.
9. Keep warehouses clean, organized and inventoried.
10. Maintain security and safety measures at all times.
11. Attend required training and maintain licensing.
12. Maintain and adhere to all agency policies and procedures.

Education, Licenses, Certifications :

• High school diploma/GED.
• Driver's license with a minimum of a chauffeur's classification.
• Ability to obtain Forklift certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required:

1. Minimum of 1 year commercial driving.
2. A clean and safe driving record.
3. Chauffeurs license or CDL.
4. Basic knowledge of truck maintenance.
5. Be able to work independently, remain focused and follow through, as well as working as part of a team.
6. Ability to follow through with scheduled daily plan.
7. Ability to understand and accept people with barriers to employment and everyday living.

Physical Requirements:

1. Standing, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, reaching, walking, hearing, seeing, twisting and turning.
2. Medium lifting, exerting 20-50 pounds of force.
3. Occasional heavy lifting, exerting 50-100 pounds of force.
4. Work environment sometimes hectic with occasional high stress, and occasional short deadlines.
