Overview of position:

FEDITC is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Specialist to work at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, AFB. United States Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret DoD Security Clearance is required to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing support to ISSM, CCM and COR.
  • Provide information to allow evaluation and change management procedures for implementation.
  • Direct gateways technicians to implement and comply with cyber orders IAW USYBERCOM, USAF, AMC and/or EACN PM reporting procedures.
  • Monitor and update the DISA web-based Vulnerability Management System (VMS), Continuous Monitoring and Risk Scoring (CMRS) system, and USAF web-based ACT tool.
  • Coordinate all Computer Network Defense (CND) activities with the GNOC within 30 minutes from CND event start.
  • Coordinate with GNOC any required Authorized Service Interruption (ASI) events as directed by the 33 NWS, ISSM, CCM, EACN PM, or DISA Global (CSSP provider).
  • Perform weekly network vulnerability scans with approved AF tool (e.g., ACAS) and provide the results in the EACN Security Compliance Report.
  • Utilize Government network scanning tools to provide IA-related results, findings, and remediation activities to the CCM, ISSM, EACN PM, and COR.
  • Manage and monitor the EACN Intrusion Detection/Prevention System daily to include customizing rules, maintaining historical log files, and reporting malicious activities to the ISSM, CCM & COR.
  • Access the DISA provided system for IDS monitoring (e.g., Acropolis), monitoring and customizing to give the maximum visibility and reporting capability possible.
  • Manage and monitor the EACN Log Data daily to include customizing searches, maintaining, reviewing and reporting on historical log files, and reporting malicious activities or other incidents to the CCM, ISSM, EACN PM, or COR.
  • Manage log collections and ensure that all data from all network devices (and customer devices whenever possible) is collected by a central repository and is available for manual automated scans (e.g., Splunk Searches).
  • Identify key indicators of improper activity in logs and implement methods for incidents to be automatically brought to the attention of the A2G2 personnel (e.g., dashboards within SolarWinds and Splunk).
  • Manage and monitor the EACN Firewall daily to include customizing searches, maintaining, reviewing and reporting on historical log files, and reporting malicious activities or other incidents to the CCM, ISSM, EACN PM, and COR.
  • Direct implementations, track and provide status of implementation of patches, updates, etc. as pertains to maintaining compliance of all hardware and software in the network, IAW cyber orders.
  • Provide status of implementations in the EACN Security Compliance Report (002), which will demonstrate status and be generated with available tools (e.g., ACAS) or manually.
  • Perform First Responder scans or other response tasks as necessary, Post-Notification Investigation and Network Defense (NetD) Incident Reports, ACAS vulnerability scans, and DISA VMS/CMRS configuration changes as requested from the EACN CCM, back-ups of the Intrusion Detection System (IDS) Defense Center configurations and data, Syslog Server, firewall and DNS Logs to the EACN ISSM.


Qualifications

Experience/Skills:
  • Required EACN Specific: Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) or GIAC Certified Incident Handler and the baseline IA certification and Network Environment (NE) and Computing Environment (CE) certification for the operating system, hardware, and security tools and devices supported.


Education:
  • BS + 3 years of experience.


Certifications:
  • IAT II certification required


Clearance:
  • A Secret clearance is required to be considered for the position.
  • Must be a US Citizen and pass a background check.
  • Maintain applicable security clearance(s) at the level required by the client and/or applicable certification(s) as requested by FEDITC and/or required by FEDITCS Client(s)/Customer(s)/Prime contractor(s).
