Senior Advanced Industrial Engineer

Job Purpose The operations engineering designer/draftsman will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and managing EnerSys' global facility drawings.

This position offers the opportunity to use problem solving skills in order to optimize new equipment layout and facility design. This role works extensively with cross functional teams while using an iterative process in order to develop the aforementioned optimal equipment/facility layouts. The person in this role will have the opportunity to see their projects go from conceptualization to implementation.

Position utilizes basic industrial/manufacturing knowledge in order to understand the importance of material flow, material storage, floor loading, and equipment layout within a manufacturing facility. A general understanding of EH&S requirements will be useful to keep facilities/equipment in compliance. Understanding of facility ventilation and utilities requirements is a plus.

The person in this role will report directly to Kevin Jones, Senior Director of Global Operations Engineering. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Create, manage, and maintain facility drawings of locations worldwide * Assist in the design/layout of new manufacturing facilities and equipment * Develop/Analyze several what-if scenarios related to layout and design in order to identify the most effective solution * Review vendor submitted drawings for accuracy and conformity to purchase specifications * Work closely with on site engineering personnel to review/update facility and equipment drawings during design phase * Perform ventilation airflow analyses using existing excel models * Perform facility area calculations and space assignments per department * Travel to both international and domestic sites on an as needed/project defined basis Qualifications * Prerequisites: Intermediate or better Excel skills * Proficiency using AutoCAD * Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling software * Ability to create an easily accessible and organized file structure * Knowledge of basic mechanical/industrial engineering concepts * Previous experience in the battery industry is a plus * Working knowledge of lean principles is a plus * Minimum of an associate's degree in drafting or similar discipline * Engineering degree is a plus * 3+ years of experience in drafting/design or a related field General Job Requirements * Generic EnerSys provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
