Catering Events Coordinator

Essential Functions

• Ensure that all catering related accounting/billing is completed on time, customers receive their billing statements.

• Able to plan, coordinate, an execute event from beginning to end

• Must be highly motivated with good communication skills and capable of leading by example

• Interact with client management in each location and establish client relationships

• Communicate with staff internally on event details, updates and changes

• Provide coordination assistance between Commissary Kitchen and Unit Managers

• Demonstrates superior time management skills which include managing multiple events and activities at the same time

• Ensure lunch and event set up meets Cater to You Food Service presentation standards and client expectations

• Oversee that each event is properly staffed, equipped and that all goes well from start to finish

• Provide leadership and guidance to front of house event staff

• Insures proper sanitation practices are followed

• Actively gathers feedback on events to insure guest satisfaction and records information

• Provide services in support of the sales effort

• Orders all supplies and rentals as needed

• Coordinates and expedites Front of House set ups and breakdowns

• Write proposals and present them to clients in a timely manner

• General office procedures such as invoices, storing and filing invoices, tracking staffing and rental orders

• Proposes new ideas to improve departmental operating standards, event planning and implementation processes

• Assist in the development and implementation of catering standards and operating procedures.

Competencies

• Catering On and Off Premise/ Catering Sales: 3 - 5 years

• Menu Planning: 3 -5 years

• Catering Budget Management: 3 - 5 years

Work Environment

The work environment can be loud and busy. There are many kitchen hazards such as hot surfaces and liquids, sharp knives, and slippery floors.

Physical Demands

The employee is required to stand for long periods as well as walk, bend and stoop. The position requires working taste buds, ability to smell, feel with fingers and visually inspects, including close and distance vision.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This position is approximately 50 hours per week depending on the events schedule. Weekend work is occasionally required.

Travel

For this position travel within the NYC Metro region would be expected as needed, about 10-15% of the time.

Required Education and Experience

1. Three to five years of progressive experience in catering, or food production.

Compensation: Salary for this position ranges from $70,000-$75,000
