POSITION DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Pre-Kindergarten Aftercare Counselor
DEPARTMENT: Calvary Christian Academy
REPORTS TO: Assistant Early Childhood Director
STATUS: Non-Exempt; Temporary, Seasonal
HOURS: Part Time: Mon-Fri. 2:00pm-5:30pm
LOCATION: Fort Lauderdale Campus

Purpose Statement:
The ACE Counselor plays a vital role in furthering the mission of Calvary Christian Academy. This position is responsible for childcare during after-school hours. The passion and efforts of each Pre-K ACE Counselor assists in fostering spiritual growth in the students and will directly impact Calvary Christian Academy’s mission to make disciples for Christ.
Scope:
The ACE Counselor interacts directly with children of ages 3 and 4.
The Pre-Kindergarten ACE program is designed to provide a loving, nurturing environment for students to relax and play after school. Our goal is to provide hours of fun and enjoyment for our students in an orderly, safe environment, as our God is a God of order. Through guidance and intentional scheduling of activities, teachers create an atmosphere of security and safety for our aftercare students.
Specific ACE Responsibilities:
  • Interact with children so that they enjoy their time at ACE and help students grow in their knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • Directly supervise children at all times and keep track of their location.
  • Be prompt to all assigned activities and follow schedules precisely.
  • Follow all ACE Handbook policies and procedures.
  • Maintain radio contact with the office to know when children are to be released.
  • Ensure that children are released only to adults on contact lists.
  • Counsel and pray with children who have a need or who have been disciplined.
  • Provide children with snacks and clean the snack area afterward.
  • Must have good classroom management skills.
  • Keep accurate attendance records for check-in and check-out.
  • Transport children safely to different areas for different ACE activities.
  • Ensure that injured children receive the needed medical attention and all injuries are documented on the provided Incident Reports.
  • At all times, staff should adhere to the DCF and BCCLE staff-to-child ratios.
