Job description

BayCare offers supportive programs and services to cancer patients, family members, caregivers and loved ones through our Cancer Patient Support Services (CaPSS) program. The CaPSS teams are guided by a simple mission to enhance the quality of life for people in our community touched by cancer. CaPSS counselors provide services to cancer patients in the hospital and outpatient settings. This program assists with cancer-related issues and to educate patients and families about community resources. This Program is offered to patients at no charge to them and the counselors are part of their cancer support team.
The Licensed Counselor for CaPSS responsibilities include:
  • Being a member of a collaborative practice model that includes patients, nurses, clinical resource coordinators, physicians, and other practitioners, caregivers, and the community
  • Knowledgeable about disease, treatment, social and economic implications for individuals and families as it pertains to their age, stage of psychosocial development and discharge needs
  • Pragmatic in approaching End of Life and ethical issues

Position details:
  • Location: Morton Plant Hospital - Clearwater, Fl
  • Status: Full Time, 40 hrs per week
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Weekend Requirement: None
  • On Call: No

Certifications and Licensures:
  • Required LCSW (Social Work) or
  • Required LMHC (Mental Health)

Education:
  • Required Masters in Social Work, Mental Health, Mental Health Counseling, or Community Counseling

Experience:
  • Required 6 months Internship in an acute care setting or
  • Required 1 year social services in an acute health care setting
