Assist the pharmacist by filling physician orders for medications, mixes IV admixture solutions as required using aseptic technique in the Laminar Air Flow Hood, prepares and files charge slips and performs other related duties.

Patient Care:
Assists the pharmacist in providing medication, drug information and pharmaceutical services to patients, nurses, physicians and other hospital personnel. Fills medication orders from labels in a timely an accurate manner. Fills medication carts, drug replacement boxes and automated dispensing unit. Delivers medications to patient care areas and picks up items going to the Pharmacy. Completes area inspections as assigned in the time frame assigned. Corrects noted deficiencies found during inspections. Processes and prepares sterile drug orders with proper order and care, using aseptic technique. Prepackages drugs as demand required. Properly and completely prepares paperwork for prepackaging records.Completely and accurately inputs medication charges and credits daily. Maintains patient medication drawer accuracy by periodically pulling updates off the computer, adding and deleting from the boxes. Pulls discharges off computer and removes meds from patient drawer. Participates as requested in training and working with students.Participates in inventory control and wholesale orders, placing the order as requested. Ensures that all work is verified by a Pharmacist.
Organization/Work Role: Prioritizes workload. Completes work in a timely manner. Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.Shares responsibility for ordering and stocking medication and keeping the department clean.Maintains a calm demeanor during busy or crisis situations. Utilizes personal protective equipment to protect from exposure to chemical, radiation and infectious hazards.
Professional: Actively participates in department management by providing input at meetings and reading communication. Mentors new and less experienced staff and students. Uses policy and procedure manuals and other reference material to ensure proper course of action.
Quality Improvement: Identifies, proposes solutions and assists in implementation of ideas for improvement in patient care and departmental / hospital operations. Participates in the successful implementation of change. Identifies opportunities and implements strategies to decrease waste in medication. Participates in department QI as requested.
