Nursing Assistant Job Summary

We are seeking a highly-skilled Nursing Assistant to provide excellent care to our residents. Under the supervision of our registered nurse on staff, you will help residents with basic daily tasks, such as bathing, getting dressed, preparing and eating meals, light housekeeping, and moving from one location in their home to another. When necessary, you will also help change wound dressings, take vital signs, and assist with range of motion exercises. We pride ourselves in providing top-notch care for all of our residents, so we expect our Nursing Assistants to be attentive and compassionate.

Nursing Assistant Duties and Responsibilities

  • Change linens and provide new bedding, blankets, and pillows
  • Assist with all grooming habits including bathing, dressing, brushing hair, etc.
  • Prepare meals and help patients eat and drink at mealtimes
  • Help patients use the bathroom
  • Assist with any prescribed daily exercises or mobilization efforts
  • Ensure patients are comfortable in bed; adjust bed settings and/or reposition/turn patient as needed
  • Take vital signs daily (weight, blood pressure, pulse, etc.); record eating habits and bodily functions
  • Monitor and record patient daily activities; report any drastic changes to a nurse or physician
  • Maintain supplies, restock when needed, and notify supervisors if running low

Nursing Assistant Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school degree or GED certificate
  • Completion of an accredited Nursing Assistant education program
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate and BLS certification
  • At least 6 months of experience in a long-term care facility or hospital preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic medical equipment
  • Basic computer and record-keeping skills
  • Physical and mental stamina; ability to work long hours on one's feet and lift 25+ pounds
