Lifeguard Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and energetic Lifeguard to monitor activities in and around our aquatic facility. You must be alert throughout your shift to ensure patrons follow all safety rules and precautions and be able to handle confrontations. We also expect you to respond quickly to stop dangerous behavior or in an emergency. Candidates must be at least 16 years old, be American Red Cross certified (including CPR and First Aid), and have at least six months of lifeguard experience.
Lifeguard Duties and Responsibilities
- Remain alert and keep a watchful eye on all activities that occur in and around the water
- Enforce all safety rules of the facility to prevent accidents
- Provide information, instructions, and directions to patrons who ask for clarification
- Respond immediately to medical emergencies or to save someone who needs help in the water
- Provide first aid, CPR, or other life-saving care treatments to patrons when required
- Identify and communicate any potential health, safety, or accident risks to the facility supervisor
- Assist with setting up the facility for various water classes and activities
- Record the facility's participation numbers and compile the necessary daily reports
Lifeguard Requirements and Qualifications
- At least 16 years old
- American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certification
- Keen attention to detail
- Ability to react appropriately in stressful, high-pressure, and fast-paced emergency situations
- Compassionate and service-oriented attitude with a passion for maintaining the safety of the facility
- Excellent communication skills
- Reliable transportation
