Flight Attendant Job Summary
The flight attendant will maintain the safety, security, and comfort of passengers. They will ensure all safety standards are met, prepare the cabin, serve food and beverages, assist passengers on and off the plane as well as instruct passengers in an emergency situation. Excellent customer service and support skills are needed.
Flight Attendant Duties and Responsibilities
Performing all regulation cabin duties prior to flight
Ensuring all standards are met and passengers comply with FAA policies
Greeting passengers and assisting them on the plane
Checking passenger tickets and passports
Assisting pilots in flight when needed
Instructing passengers on all emergency procedures and equipment; operating all emergency exits
Serving food and beverages to passengers
Assisting passengers in stowing baggage
Presenting inflight sales and airline promotions
Explaining custom forms and passing out the required paperwork to passengers
Maintaining a clean cabin
Flight Attendant Requirements and Qualifications
Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent personal presentation, image, and style
High school degree or equivalent; or relevant work experience
Must be 21 years of age at the time of employment
Willing to work holidays, nights, and weekends
Able to read and converse fluently in English
Physically able to stand and move during the length of shift; able to bend and kneel through shift
Able to push, pull, and lift objects up to 70 pounds; able to push, pull, and move beverage cart (up to 250 pounds); able to pass a swimming test
Strict adherence to airline philosophy, mission statement, and policies
Able to pass an FAA required 10-year work history review and pass criminal background and fingerprint checks; willing to submit to and pass FAA random drug and alcohol tests
Legally authorized to work in the US and with a valid passport or travel document allowing free exits and entries into the US (multiple entry status)
Must meet European Aviation Safety Agency standards (Europe's equivalent to the Federal Aviation Administration)
Successful completion of the flight attendant training program
